Belden announces global restructuring actions
December 4, 2008 -- Belden has announced plans to streamline its manufacturing, sales and administrative functions worldwide. The restructuring will result in a work force reduction of approximately 1,800 associates (20 percent) and consolidation of some of the company's manufacturing operations.

Embedded, software-configurable USB to serial adapters
December 4, 2008 -- Sealevel Systems has released additions to its SeaLINK USB to serial product line. The SeaLINK/PC.SC (one-port) and SeaLINK+2/PC.SC (two-port) embedded USB to serial adapter with a PC bracket are designed to add serial ports to any PC, using the computer's internal USB connection. The serial ports are software configurable for RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485, eliminating the need for an external converter.

Tyco unveils snap-lock SMA
December 3, 2008--Tyco Electronics' Snap-Lock SMA series plug connector is compatible with a standard SMA jack connector. It features inner contact fingers that slide over the threads of the mating SMA jack and lock into place by engaging the outer collar. Disengagement is achieved by pulling back on the outer collar. The design reduces wear on the components and saves time in mating and unmating.
